Two ice halls at the Klagenfurt fairgrounds, home of EC KAC

The Kärntner Eissportzentrum is two ice halls at the Klagenfurt fairgrounds: the Heidi Horten-Arena, formerly the Stadthalle, and the Sepp Puschnig-Halle. The arena is the home of the ice hockey club EC KAC and for many years held 5,088 spectators. The Sepp-Puschnig-Halle opened in 1997 right beside it with about 500 seats and serves KAC and its youth teams as a training rink. A café and the ice master's workrooms connect the two buildings.

The arena was rebuilt in stages: new lighting and toilets in 2017, a new dressing-room wing in 2018, and in summer 2022 a 360-degree video cube and a gutted, rebuilt interior. It took its present name in October 2022, because KAC honorary president Heidi Horten had put over 5 million euros into the conversion. The facades were renovated in summer 2023. Klagenfurt has also hosted international hockey, including the B world championships of 1982 and 1992 together with Villach.

The halls are not only for hockey. The arena is open for public skating at set times, and the operator runs an ICE PARTY, an ice disco, in the Heidi Horten-Arena on Saturdays from early November.
