Kufstein's ice arena, opened in 2005 after a petition for a covered rink

The Eisarena Kufstein exists partly because of a petition: a cousin pair collected about 3,200 signatures in roughly 14 days for an ice arena in Kufstein. Construction began in 2004, and in August 2005, shortly before completion, the century flood endangered the building work. The new arena opened on 26 October 2005 with a supporting programme, and the first Kufstein Cup brought eight teams from Finland, Slovenia, Austria, Tyrol, South Tyrol and Bavaria.

The facility has a covered ice surface of 60 by 30 metres, about 2,000 square metres, joined to a Canadian open-air surface of 56 by 26 metres, about 1,500 square metres. The stand seats up to 700 spectators, and a special lighting concept is meant to make public skating an experience.

The ice clubs of Kufstein are HCK, the hockey club, and ATV Eiskunstlauf Kufstein. A buffet is open during the public sessions.
