Kundl's ice hall, handed over on 28 February 1998 with an Austria-Germany old-timers match

The Eisarena Kundl was decided on in 1996, to improve leisure and sport in the municipality, and was built on the former yard of the company Unterrainer. The groundbreaking in autumn 1997 started a project of about 43 million schillings, and on 28 February 1998 the arena was handed over. The highlight of that day was a friendly ice hockey match between old-timers of Austria and Germany, with stars such as Holst and Kühnhackl.

The planners saved money by using many parts of the building, such as the changing rooms, both for skating in winter and for the swimming pool in summer.

The home club EHC Kundl was founded on 2 July 1993 in the Gasthof Post. It started a women's team in 1999/2000, which won the Austrian Division B title in 2004/05, and its first team has played in the Austrian Eishockey Liga since 2018/19.
