A rink that waited a decade for its foundations to be built on
Ledna dvorana in Maribor stands beside Dvorana Tabor. Its foundations were laid in 1964, but building stopped for lack of money; work resumed on the same foundations in 1974 and the rink opened unofficially that November. A roof followed in 1986, and the east and west sides were finally closed in 1988.
The hall was renovated from 2003 and officially reopened in November 2006 with a performance by figure skater Helena Gornjak. The ice measures 60 by 30 metres, the hall is 12 metres high and it holds up to 3,800 people, seated and standing.
It has eight changing rooms and a cafe, and the operator offers five regular recreational sessions a week, of which the Friday evening disco skating is the most popular.
