Montréal's former Aréna Saint-Louis, renovated from 2024 and reopening in fall 2026 under a new name.
Aréna des Patineuses was long known as Aréna Saint-Louis. The arena has hosted numerous hockey, skating and ringette leagues over the years, as well as roller derby, and its new name celebrates the historic presence of women in the area and their pioneering role in ice sports.
In 2024 the borough launched a two-year renovation to modernize the building, make it more inclusive and meet rigorous environmental standards, targeting LEED certification. The work included a complete roof renovation for energy efficiency, a new technical pavilion on the south side facing Saint-Dominique Street to house a modern, secure refrigeration system, and a rainwater retention basin landscaped into the grounds to the north.
After the major upgrades, the arena reopens in fall 2026, with an inauguration on October 18, 2026, to welcome skaters back along with the borough's local sports clubs.
