A City of Montréal arena in Parc-Extension, open since 1979 and home ice of the Tornades de Villeray
Aréna Howie-Morenz opened in 1979 in Parc-Extension, and the City of Montréal runs it as an arena for a variety of ice sports. Locals also know the building as Republic Arena.
The Tornades de Villeray minor hockey association has practised and played its games here for years, and as of March 2025 the arena was still the Tornades' home. Hockey does not stop when the ice season ends: in the summer months the Quebec Ball Hockey Association's three Parc-Extension teams, the Hellenic Republic of Parc-Ex, Park X Streets and A.A. Hellas, play their games in the arena.
The Parc-Extension Youth Organization (PEYO) holds its annual hockey tournament here over two weeks, and organizers estimated the crowd across one edition at 2,000 spectators. That tournament opened with the Tornades' atom B team forfeiting its first match against the Citadelles de Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
