One of the two buildings of the Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard, built for the 1976 Summer Olympics
Aréna Michel-Normandin is one of the two buildings that make up the Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard in Montréal's Ahuntsic–Cartierville borough: the arena on one side and the main complex on the other. The complex was built for the 1976 Summer Olympics, when it hosted the handball and water polo competitions and served as the training centre for athletics, swimming and field hockey during the Games. It carries the name of Claude Robillard, the first director of the City of Montréal's urban planning department.
The arena itself is an installation designed for a variety of ice sports, while the main complex next to it remains a high-performance training centre for a number of sports. Today the arena offers public skating periods on its ice.
