A 60 by 30 m international-size sheet beside the city arena, named for a local bottler since 2016
Morioka City Ice Rink, also called the Michinoku Coca-Cola Bottling Rink, is a public rink in the Honmiya district. Wikipedia describes it as a rink that can be skated on around the clock all year, and the rink itself takes ice hire 24 hours a day.
A local company, Michinoku Coca-Cola Bottling, and the city signed a naming-rights contract in March 2016. The city arena next door was once an ice rink itself and passed that role to this building.
The main hall holds an international-size sheet of 60 by 30 metres and two curling sheets, with 96 movable seats, and its cooling system uses ammonia and carbon dioxide. Public skating runs in the daytime on a monthly schedule, and on Sports Day in October the city opens the rink free of charge and puts on a hockey taster and a skating class.
