Opened in 1987 as Norway's 16th ice hall, home to a club of 600 members
Skedsmo Ishall opened in 1987 as the 16th ice hall in Norway. The ice hockey club first meant to build it itself, but the project proved too big for volunteer work, so Skedsmo kommune became the owner and gave the club an operating agreement that still stands. Today the club runs the hall in the evenings and at weekends, while Lillestrøm kommune runs it on weekday daytimes.
The hall brought together ice hockey across the municipality and drew players from all of Nedre Romerike. Skedsmo Ishockeyklubb, counted from 28 March 1990, calls itself one of Norway's biggest hockey clubs with 600 members, and there has always been a great deal of activity in the hall, which also houses Romerike Kunstløpklubb. The club's skating and hockey school starts every autumn for children aged about 5-12.
