Eastern Canada's only covered speed-skating oval
The Centre de glaces Intact Assurance holds the only covered speed-skating oval in eastern Canada. With its 400-metre oval and two international-size rinks, it is the largest indoor skating centre in the Americas.
Four organizations share the ice today: Les Gouverneurs minor hockey, the Club de patinage de vitesse Ville de Québec, the Club de patinage artistique Ste-Foy/Sillery/Cap-Rouge and the Les Pingouins skating school. Public skating and speed skating sessions run alongside them, pickleball has a place on the schedule, and a running track inside the building is open to walkers and runners, strollers included.
The site's speed-skating history includes the World Junior Speed Skating Championships in 1986 and a men's long-distance World Cup in 1992. Records still fall on the oval: in January 2026, Laurent Dubreuil beat Jordan Stolz's 500-metre track record here.
