The Kunsteisbahn- und Schwimmbadgenossenschaft Schaffhausen (KSS) was founded in 1962 to build an artificial ice rink and an open-air pool in Schaffhausen. Both went into operation in 1965 and the indoor pool followed in 1972. The site has been renewed and extended ever since, and the city and the KSS Freizeitpark now run it together under a service agreement.
The Eispark has an open ice field with beach chairs and a sun stand to rest on, and next to it the IWC Arena, a hall for up to 1,400 guests. Four curling rinks sit on the same site. The Eislaufgemeinschaft Schaffhausen runs beginners' courses for children from 4 in the hall, teaches figure skating and ice dance on the outdoor field and trains short track speed skating.
