An open arena at 1,856 metres where hockey was played as early as 1895.
The Eisarena Ludains lies in the heart of St. Moritz Bad, right on the river Inn with a free view of the Engadine mountain panorama, at 1,856 metres above sea level. The open arena seats about 800 spectators and offers what the club calls the unique atmosphere of a mountain stadium. Its artificial ice field is open almost all year round, and in the winter months an additional natural-ice rink is prepared for pirouettes and shooting pucks.
The arena is the home ice of the EHC St. Moritz, founded on 17 January 1918, whose most successful time was the 1920s and which won its third and last Swiss championship in 1927/28. Hockey in the resort is older still: some time in the winter of 1895 an unknown photographer captured a game with skates, sticks and a hard-rubber puck on a quickly laid ice field. Voters in St. Moritz have since backed the Islas generation project.
