Opened in 1960, named after Pavol Demitra

The Zimný štadión in Trenčín opened on 17 January 1960 and became one of the symbols of hockey in the town. It is the home of Dukla Trenčín and also serves the preparation of the Slovak national hockey team. Since 29 September 2011 it has carried the name of Pavol Demitra, a hockey legend closely tied to Trenčín and Dukla.

After decades of use the stadium was extensively renewed in four stages between 2018 and 2026, with investments of almost 15 million euros. It seats 6,150 spectators and has 13 skyboxes. In 2025 it hosted the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, and in 2026 the Under-18 Ice Hockey World Championship.

Five benches around the stadium carry the names of Pavol Demitra, Miroslav Hlinka, Róbert Švehla, Marián Hossa and Zdeno Chára. Besides hockey, the ice is used by the university team Gladiators Trenčín and the figure skating club Kraso Trenčín, and each week pupils of a different Trenčín school take their turn on the ice in the Škola korčuľovania project.
