The Forum d'Octodure opened in 1955. The idea of the first artificial ice rink in Valais was put forward in the summer of 1955, and the rink was inaugurated on 3 and 4 December that year with two matches, one lost 10 to 7 against Servette HC. The architect Raymond Métral planned a 60 by 30 metre playing surface cooled by a 21 kilometre ammonia circuit.
In 1981 the municipal authorities decided to give the rink a roof, which was built in 1982, and it became a covered rink. Today it is the home arena of Valais-Chablais HC and is used mainly for ice hockey.
The city describes it as a covered venue that hosts free skating, training and matches, figure-skating lessons and curling practice.
