Nearly 300 m² of artificial ice on the Kerkplein, run by two Woerden Rotary clubs and volunteers
Currently out of season The Rotary-ijsbaan on the Kerkplein in Woerden is open from Saturday 28 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027; its weekly hours for the five weeks are posted on the opening-hours page. Official schedule update
The Rotary-ijsbaan Woerden is an initiative of two Woerden Rotary clubs, Woerden and Woerden Oude Rijn. The organisers' main aim is to give the town's children up to 12 years old a day of real ice fun every year, whether or not it freezes, and the rink thanked its supporters after its 14th edition last winter.
Nearly 300 m² of artificial ice lies on the Kerkplein in the middle of Woerden. The rink is paid for entirely by sponsors and donors, and a team of volunteers looks after the skate hand-out, the maintenance and the supervision of trainees. In the evening the ice becomes a match rink for the popular curling competition, run by Stichting Curling Woerden, a group that came out of JCI Het Groene Hart and has put curling with kettles firmly on the map in Woerden and beyond.
