Neenah’s downtown plaza rink, opened in 2021

The Plaza at Gateway Park opened in downtown Neenah in late October 2021 as a new outdoor ice rink and coffee house. The ice runs from mid November to March on a glycol chiller system, while a heating system keeps the 62,000 surrounding pavers heated to limit snow and ice buildup. A garage on site stores the Zamboni, and the rink is lit at night.

From April to October, when The Plaza doesn’t have ice, it is set with chairs, tables and umbrellas and used for events like art fairs, exercise classes and roller skating. Globe Coffee operates on a year-round basis inside the plaza, and the property includes a meeting area and a place to rent skates.

BestLife.com rated The Plaza one of the top 10 most charming ice rinks in the nation. Family nights were part of the plan from the start, including skating with Santa, a princess night and a super hero night.
