HoCo Arena is a publicly owned rink run by the City of Hancock. Construction began in 1972, and for more than 40 years the building has been a centre of recreation and social life in the Copper Country.
It is home ice for the Hancock High School Bulldogs and hosts the Copper Country Junior Hockey Association and the Copper Country Old-timer's League alongside open public skating. The arena floor covers 17,000 square feet with bleacher seating beside it, heated by arrangement, and two meeting rooms seat up to 100.
Off the ice, the arena has hosted receptions, reunions, the county fair, a circus, auctions and garden and boat shows, and from March through September, when the ice is out, the rink floor is rented to groups. The building's age and government regulations are now driving upgrades to its equipment.
