Skating in Millennium Square

Ice Cube at Christmas is Leeds' festive attraction on Millennium Square, with outdoor ice skating, festive food and drink, family rides and winter bars. The ice rink is covered by a marquee-style roof, so sessions can usually go ahead in most weather conditions, and entry to the event site is free; only skating needs a ticket.

Millennium Square was Leeds's flagship project to mark the year 2000, jointly funded by Leeds City Council and the Millennium Commission. The South part by Calverley Street is called the Mandela Gardens, after Nelson Mandela, and the Electric Press, a former 1900 printworks in red brick with a distinctive square chimney, stands beside the square. The commercial use of the surrounding buildings helped to pay for it.

Penguin Club runs before the regular public sessions to give young children a quieter environment, with sessions limited to 90 skaters.
