Alpine Ice Arena in Louisville has ice for hockey, figure skating and open skating.
Curling arrived in 2018. Brett and Bethaney Curry founded the Derby City Curling Club after watching the US men win Olympic gold that year, and the club paints its ice at Alpine for each new season. By early 2026 it had introduced roughly 1,000 people to the sport, its learn-to-curl classes were sold out through March at about 64 people a session, and it was running adaptive curling programs. Olympic gold medalist Tyler George has visited the club twice.
The club's season runs from around Thanksgiving through mid-March, and it is looking to add dedicated ice used strictly for curling, which would mostly bring more time on the ice.
