Founded in 2000 as Kentucky's only dual ice arena and home to University of Louisville hockey
Iceland Sports Complex was founded in 2000 and is Kentucky's only dual ice arena, an indoor building with two sheets that stays open year round. The second floor houses the Elite Academy of Dance & Performing Arts.
The University of Louisville's men's hockey team, the Cardinals, calls Iceland home. The program plays in the American Collegiate Hockey Association's Division 2 as a member of the Tri-State Collegiate Hockey League, and won its conference tournament three years in a row in 2015, 2016 and 2017. Figure skating in the building is run by the Louisville Skating Academy, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization with more than 15 professional instructors that the Professional Skaters Association recognizes as an Excellence on Ice facility. Beyond hockey and figure skating, the complex also offers broomball.
