Opened in 1994 as the Eagles Nest Ice Arena

Verona Ice Arena opened in October 1994 as the Eagles Nest Ice Arena, and the non-profit I.C.E., Inc. that built it still operates the building. The construction money came from Ice Inc.'s "Ice For Kids of All Ages" campaign, raised with the City of Verona, local hockey families and community businesses.

The original sheet is Olympic-sized, 200 by 100 feet on a sand floor, with permanent bleachers. A second, NHL-sized 200-by-85-foot sheet on a concrete floor was added in a 40,000-square-foot expansion off the south end of the building; the work started in March 2023, finished in January 2024, and the new arena has heated bleachers above an open concourse. Donors and supporters marked the second rink with a ribbon cutting on March 8, 2024.

The Verona Area High School hockey program, Division 1 state champion in 2014 and 2020, the Verona Wildcats Youth Hockey Association, Madison Mavericks Girls Hockey and the Madison Edgewood Crusaders all call the arena home. Verona Youth Hockey had grown from about 150 to 160 kids to well over 350 when ground broke on the expansion in January 2023. The arena hosts an annual Mite/U8 tournament in March and a youth WAHA state tournament in most years.
