Marquette's 3,100-seat city arena since 1974

Lakeview Arena opened in 1974, partway through a Marquette Iron Rangers hockey season. The Iron Rangers had been playing in the Palestra, a building moved from Laurium, Michigan in 1921, and that old rink was torn down shortly after Lakeview opened. Northern Michigan University hockey made Lakeview its home from 1976 to 1999, and the Marquette Rangers of the NAHL played here from 2006 to 2010 before moving to Flint.

The building is a 3,100-seat multi-purpose arena, owned by the City of Marquette and run by its Parks and Recreation Department. Marquette Junior Hockey is the main tenant today, alongside conventions and other city events, and UPW Pro Wrestling stages its yearly Marquettemania here. KISS played the arena on March 20, 1985 and January 5, 1988, and Hulk Hogan headlined an AWA wrestling card here on October 9, 1983.

Lakeview won the Kraft Hockeyville USA contest on April 30, 2016; the prize paid for building upgrades, and the Buffalo Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes played an NHL preseason game here on October 4, 2016. By January 2019 the city had also put its own money into compressors, chillers, HVAC, dehumidification and lights. That month the youth program counted hundreds of kids in the building nine months of the year, with tournaments through the season drawing an average of 150 out-of-town families.
