Began as the Puckhandlers inline hockey rink in 1998 and became an ice rink on 1 July 2018
The first version of the rink opened in 1998 as Puckhandlers, an inline roller hockey rink in a basketball stadium leased from the City of Darebin. It was converted into a purpose-built ice rink, and iceHQ officially reopened on 1 July 2018 in Reservoir, about 11 km north of Melbourne's CBD.
Ice hockey is the building's main business. The Melbourne Ducks are the main tenant: their men's team played one season in the short-lived Pacific Hockey League in 2022, and in 2025 the club was accepted as the Australian Women's Ice Hockey League's sixth team with iceHQ as its home rink. Ice Hockey Victoria state-level competitions are also played here.
Public skating sessions run with coloured lights, music and games.
