Australia's only dual-rink Olympic-size ice centre

O'Brien Icehouse was established in the Docklands in 2010 and opened that February; during construction it was the National Ice Sports Centre. It has two Olympic-sized rinks, stadium seating for 1,000 and 2,300 pairs of hire skates, and it is the only dual-rink facility of its kind in Australia.

Rink 1, the Henke Rink, has stadium seating and fully glassed boards for ice hockey and is named for ice sports champion Geoffrey Henke. Rink 2, the Bradbury Rink, is used mostly for public skating and is named for the Bradbury family, including Steven Bradbury, who won the 1,000 m short-track gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Melbourne Ice and Melbourne Mustangs play their Australian Ice Hockey League home games here.

The Icehouse hosted the 2011 IIHF World Championship Division II, and in 2012 the Henke Rink became a short-track oval for the World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships. It took its present name in April 2019 after upgrades that included 1,361 solar panels.
