A 2011 city rink with indoor ice and a rare outdoor refrigerated sheet, home of a spring ice show since 1990.
Coon Rapids Ice Center opened in September 2011 with indoor ice and an outdoor refrigerated rink, one of few in the state, along with meeting rooms, training rooms and party rooms. The indoor sheet runs year-round for lessons, hockey skill development, tournaments and public skating events, while the outdoor ice typically operates from late November through February.
The center is home to Coon Rapids Youth Hockey, the Coon Rapids High School boys' and girls' hockey teams, a junior figure skating club, the Minnesota Blue Ox and Minnesota Wild Sled Hockey.
Each spring the rink stages the city's ice show, a Coon Rapids tradition since 1990, in which skaters from Coon Rapids and several surrounding communities perform numbers set to music, including the popular Father-Daughter performance.
