Nelson's community complex arena

The Nelson & District Community Complex was built in 2005 as a new building for the town. The Regional District of Central Kootenay runs it as a multi-purpose recreation facility with a fitness centre, an aquatic centre, an ice arena and multi-purpose rooms.

The arena has an NHL-size ice surface, 85 feet wide and 200 feet long, with an event concourse of 1,200 seats, or 2,500 when the dry floor is in use. Five dressing rooms with showers, a referee's room, a concession and beer gardens serve the building. A first-aid room and a physiotherapy room sit beside the dressing rooms, and the fitness centre, swimming pool, hot tub and sauna are under the same roof.

Minor hockey, figure skating, speed skating and adult recreation hockey teams use the ice through the winter and summer, and the Nelson Leafs junior A club calls it home.
