An outdoor sheet on the site of the 1904 Stanley Cup games

The Lansdowne Park Outdoor Rink sits in a 40-acre urban park on Bank Street beside the Rideau Canal in the Glebe, owned by the City of Ottawa. Ice has been part of the site since the Ottawa Silver Seven played Stanley Cup championship games in the Aberdeen Pavilion in 1904.

The Horticulture Building, built in 1914, was designed for winter use as a curling rink alongside seasonal exhibitions, and the General Purpose Building and the McElroy Building, both since demolished, also had curling ice installed. In 1930 a girls' speed-skating race was run on the park's sports field. Through all of this the grounds hosted the Central Canada Exhibition, the Ottawa Super Ex, every year from 1888 until 2010.

The indoor neighbour, TD Place Arena, is the former Ottawa Civic Centre, which has hosted Canadian and World figure skating championships and the Memorial Cup. Along the Rideau Canal, open ground once given over to parked cars has since been converted into an urban park with green space and recreation facilities.
