Sherwood's arena of about 60 years, named for hockey manager Cody Banks and now under review for replacement.
Cody Banks Arena in Charlottetown's Sherwood neighbourhood opened around 60 years ago and has been home to hockey, lacrosse and lawn bowling since. It is named for Cody Banks, whom Coun. Bob Doiron, who grew up in the area, remembers as a great manager of local hockey teams.
The arena has created decades of memories for thousands of people and is due for upgrades. About 40 teams from Greater Charlottetown Minor Hockey skate here, the ice is in use seven days a week, and the Sherwood Parkdale Skating Club, a 2026 National Club/School Award recipient, runs its winter programs out of the building. The city owns the arena and has hired a consultant to look at replacing it, along with an assessment of how many years it has left.
