A volunteer-built arena, completed in 1955

The Bobcaygeon arena was completed in 1955, and it seems everyone in the town and surrounding area contributed to its construction in some fashion. Women's Institutes hosted fundraising dinners and volunteers worked the site. Construction was largely done when Hurricane Hazel's winds on October 15, 1954 tore off the back end of the building.

For 65 years the rink has been a cornerstone of town activities, hosting dances, fairs, town meetings and Canada Day celebrations. NHLers Joe Junkin, Bernie Nicholls, Matt Duchene and Brady Austin have played there, and so have Charley Pride, Rita McNeil, Tommy Hunter and Blue Rodeo. It has also been home to girls' hockey, curling, ringette, figure skating, roller skating, professional wrestling, summer movies and fiddle and step dance competitions.

In 2021 the Bobcaygeon-Verulam Community Centre was one of four Kraft Hockeyville finalists and the only arena representing Ontario. A local councillor said the arena needed accessibility upgrades so that all players, regardless of age, gender or ability, can access the facility.
