Port Huron's community rink, purchased by Black Bear Sports Group, keeps its name and every current club
Glacier Pointe Ice Complex is Port Huron's rink, and it has just changed hands. Black Bear Sports Group, an owner and operator of 47 rinks that reports putting more than $20 million into its buildings over the past three years, has purchased Glacier Pointe. The company's own figures frame the deal: since 2019, rinks in Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania have closed 3.5 times faster than new ones have opened.
The name stays. So do the tenants: the Port Huron Minor Hockey Association, the Port Huron Figure Skating Club, the Glacier Blades Learn to Skate program and Glacier Pointe's adult leagues all continue on schedule under the new owner. Generations of Port Huron families have learned the game in this building, and Black Bear describes it as a home base for hockey and skating families across the Blue Water Area.
What changes is the program list. Black Bear plans new offerings aimed at growing the game, rolling out during the 2026-2027 season on top of everything already running.
