Opened in October 2008, owned by four towns
Jack Byrne Regional Sport & Entertainment Centre opened in October 2008 in Torbay, thanks in part to the late Jack Byrne, for whom it is named. It is not a single town's rink: the centre is owned by the four surrounding communities, the Towns of Torbay, Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove, Flatrock and Pouch Cove.
Inside is one 200-by-85-foot NHL regulation surface with 953 fixed seats, and a building capacity of 1,980 when the floor is in use. The centre is home to the Northeast Minor Hockey Association, the Northeast Junior Eagles and the Outer Cove Marines, and hosts the Prince of Wales Skating Club. Public ice includes community skating, parent-and-tot sessions, inclusive skating, an 18-plus adult session and shinny hockey.
Off the ice, the floor takes on trade shows, craft fairs and graduations, and the centre stages its own Killick Coast Concert Series; together these events bring thousands of visitors through the doors.
