Opened on March 29, 2008, home of the Coastal Tsunami
The Gibsons & Area Community Centre was completed in time for its opening on March 29, 2008. The Sunshine Coast Regional District owns the complex and the Town of Gibsons owns the land. The hockey rink is NHL size, 200 by 85 feet, with six dressing rooms, and a zero-emissions Zamboni maintains the ice.
The rink is home to the Sunshine Coast Junior Hockey Society. On August 1, 2023, the Pacific Junior Hockey League announced that it would expand to the Sunshine Coast with a team playing here, and the Coastal Tsunami played its first home game at the centre on September 14, 2024. In April 2026 it was announced that the Tsunami would move to the new Junior A British Columbia Hockey Conference.
The arena often hosts crowds of more than 700 people for Tsunami games. In 2023 the Pacific National Exhibition donated the video score clock from the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, which had been installed there in preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympics, to serve as the score clock for the rink.
