Opened in 1986 with seating for 1,200; closed in March 2025 for a new ice floor, boards and mechanical systems
The Whitestown Ice Arena at the Whitestown Community Center opened in 1986. It has a 200-by-85-foot sheet with spectator seating for 1,200, and because it is open all year it has more wear and tear than other rinks nearby.
On March 17, 2025 the rink closed for a major rebuild, tentatively scheduled to reopen on September 15. The project installed a new ice floor system with heat mat tubing, insulation, vapor barrier, ice mat tubing and a reinforced concrete floor, new dasher boards and glass, and new mechanical systems including the chiller, pumps and compressors. Some of the replaced components were original to the rink.
Whitestown Youth Hockey Association plays here and says it gave NHL players Mark Mowers and Rob Esche their start. The rink draws people, clubs, teams and schools from beyond the town to practice and compete.
