The Onondaga Nation's 2,000-seat lacrosse arena, built in 2001, becomes an NHL-size rink each winter
Tsha' Hoñnoñyeñdakwha, whose name means “Where They Play Games,” was built in 2001 for the people of the Onondaga Nation. The 2,000-seat arena is home to Onondaga Nation lacrosse, including the Onondaga Athletic Club RedHawks, and it acknowledges the Nation's Council of Chiefs and Clan Mothers for their support.
Each fall and winter the arena floor becomes an NHL-size ice rink, 200 by 85 feet, serving school, youth and adult hockey, private rentals, public skating and community events. Seamless glass runs along the east and west sides, and there are five locker rooms with showers. In the floor season the building hosts lacrosse, tournaments and gatherings.
In September 2015 the Onondaga Nation hosted the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship, with most games played at the arena and the newly built Onondaga Nation Fieldhouse. On the ice, Party on Ice turns the arena lights down and the music up for Friday-night skating.
