Built in 1931 as the Drummond Street Bowl lacrosse box

Mimico Arena began in 1931 as the Drummond Street Bowl, an outdoor lacrosse box the Mimico Lacrosse Club built at Church Street and Drummond Street. The bowl had a dirt floor and old railway boxcars for dressing rooms, and lacrosse has been played on the site continuously since.

The Mimico Mountaineers won the Mann Cup in 1932 and 1942 and the Minto Cup in 1938 and 1951. Conn Smythe's 30th Light Anti-Aircraft Battery in World War II included every member of the Mountaineers who won the 1942 Mann Cup. The Junior A Mountaineers played their last season in 1978.

The Junior B Mountaineers returned in 1993, and the team moved up to Junior A in 2013. The building is now an indoor facility with an ice plant, which lets it host hockey in the winter months.
