Watertown's city-run two-rink arena, opened in 2024 and home of the NAHL's Watertown Shamrocks.
The City of Watertown officially opened Prairie Lakes Ice Arena in September 2024, and a new junior hockey team arrived with it. The $36 million arena seats 1,500, and city leaders credited the fundraising and contributions of a community that, as one put it, poured themselves into it.
It is a year-round, refrigerated two-rink facility run by the city's Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department. The two-story building includes athletic training rooms, suites, locker rooms, a warm viewing area and two community meeting rooms, and supports figure skating, hockey, curling, public skating and community events.
The arena is home to the Watertown Shamrocks, a Tier II junior team in the North American Hockey League, and to the Watertown Curling Club, the Watertown Figure Skating Club and the Watertown Hockey Association. It regularly hosts local and regional tournaments, camps and performances.
