Greensboro's only ice rink since 1997

The Greensboro Ice House opened in the fall of 1997 and has run year-round ever since, with hockey, figure skating and recreational skating programs under one roof. It is a single-sheet building with a mezzanine viewing area above the ice and a pro shop that sharpens skates.

Two youth hockey organizations call it home: the Greensboro Youth Hockey Association, which runs learn-to-play and house leagues, and the Triad Hockey Alliance, a joint venture between Greensboro Youth Hockey and Winston-Salem Youth Hockey that fields travel teams. The Summit Figure Skating Club manages the figure skating programs in the building. The Ice House also plays a significant part in producing Piedmont Winterfest.

As of November 2024 it was still the only ice rink in the city, and local officials weighing a possible second facility described the one sheet as booked up all the time. After more than 25 years the Ice House remains the base for both the local hockey and figure skating organizations.
