Public skating at Yorkshire's Winter Wonderland Ice Rink: the next 7 days
Currently out of season Yorkshire's Winter Wonderland opens its 21st season at York Designer Outlet on 13 November 2026 and runs to 3 January 2027, closed Christmas Day. Official schedule update
Yorkshire's Winter Wonderland bills itself as York's original and largest open-air ice rink, returning in 2026 for its 21st season. It is home to the North of England's largest outdoor ice rink, with 975 sq m of real ice and a showstopping 30ft high Christmas tree at its centre.
This year the rink has a landscaped woodland scene as its backdrop, with giant trees edged with ever-changing colourful neon ropes. The ice is flanked by the rinkside cafe and bar The Chalet with its outdoor terrace, a decorative marquee, and a viewing platform. Friendly ice marshals are on hand to give first-timers a few tips.
Off the ice there is a funfair, where the Brooklands Dodgems dating from 1937 make a welcome return, and a Frequent Skater Pass gives the sixth visit free after five sessions. The event has won four Visit York Tourism Awards.
