A four-sheet Albuquerque arena, grown from a single rink, whose ice can be joined into one large loop
Loading public skate, freestyle, and stick & puck times for Outpost Ice Arenas…
Outpost Ice Arenas started with one sheet of ice and has grown to four. The 97,000-square-foot building holds two NHL-size rinks and two curling-size training rinks, and it is one of few facilities fitted so that its four independent sheets can also become one large skating loop. The main arena seats nearly 1,000 people and the second arena 450.
The New Mexico Ice Wolves, a junior A team in the North American Hockey League, play their home games here. Pandemic restrictions in New Mexico forced the club to play one season of home games in Texas, and the organization still came away with the NAHL's Southern Division Organization of the Year and overall Organization of the Year awards. In 2022 the Ice Wolves added a Tier III junior team of the same name in the North American 3 Hockey League.
Four separate sheets let the building run games, public skating sessions, figure skating, private lessons, curling and even broomball at the same time. Off the ice, a Hockey Training Center of more than 5,000 square feet has rubber floors, a large open area and two garage doors.
