Opened in 1995 as the former headquarters of USA Hockey
The Ann Arbor Ice Cube opened in 1995 as a 155,000-square-foot facility housing two NHL rinks and one Olympic-sized rink. The building was previously the headquarters of USA Hockey, and it draws more than 850,000 visitors a year, making it one of Michigan's most heavily visited venues.
The two NHL sheets seat 800 each and the Olympic sheet seats 700, and the arena also holds a gym, a pro shop and a Michigan Medicine MedSport sports injury rehabilitation clinic within the University of Michigan medical network. The Cube is home to the Ann Arbor Figure Skating Club, the Ann Arbor Amateur Hockey Association, Biggby Coffee Hockey Club, the Huron, Pioneer, Saline and Father Gabriel Richard high school hockey teams, and one of the largest adult hockey leagues in the state.
An affiliate of Black Bear Sports Group, a Chevy Chase, Maryland company that operates ice rinks and youth sports events, took over operations in November 2022, and the building now carries the BIGGBY COFFEE Ice Cube name. In April 2025 the operators were renovating an upper-floor space previously used for banquets and events.
