Chelsea's two-rink Black Bear center
BIGGBY COFFEE Ice Cube Chelsea is a two-rink center that hosts hockey games and tournaments, run by Black Bear Sports Group, a company founded to buy under-managed rinks 20 to 30 years old and bring in professional management and capital. Hockey league records list the building under an earlier name, the Arctic Coliseum: it was the arena of the Chelsea Tornadoes, an expansion franchise the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League announced along with Battle Creek, and a home venue for Concordia Ann Arbor women's hockey in the Eastern Collegiate Women's Hockey League.
Today the ice is shared by the Chiefs and the BIGGBY Bulldogs, youth hockey through the Chelsea Hockey Association, Chelsea High School and Ann Arbor Skyline hockey, Lenawee United, Washtenaw United and Platinum Masters adult hockey. Figure-skating programs are taught by a professional coaching staff alongside members of the Chelsea Figure Skating Club.
