High River's arenas, curling sheets and pool
The Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex is High River's indoor recreation centre, with a swimming pool, two ice arenas and a concession, and it is home to the Highwood Curling Club. Its large arena has a 200-by-85-foot ice surface with seating for up to 700, and a 145-by-56-foot practice arena beside it has a viewing section for about 30.
The junior B High River Flyers play their home games here, and the Town lists Foothills Minor Hockey, Foothills Ringette and the High River Figure Skating Club among the groups that use the building. Both arenas host dry-floor activities as well as skating and hockey.
At the back of the building, four sheets of curling ice run from mid-September to the end of March, and a shuffleboard area takes over from May through August. An expansion of the aquatic side adds a completely renovated lobby with a kids' area, an exercise room and a concession stand.
