A holiday rink at Camp North End, the 76-acre site of Charlotte's 1924 Ford Model T factory
Currently out of season Camp North Pole's ice skating page is headed 'Ice Skating - 2026 Dates Coming soon' and says 'Stay Tuned for 2026 Dates'; the 2026-27 season dates are not posted yet. Official schedule update
Camp North Pole is the annual holiday ice rink at Camp North End, a 76-acre former industrial site in Charlotte whose Ford Factory was designed by architect Albert Kahn in 1924. The rink fills a corner of the site each holiday season.
The 240,000-square-foot Ford building was powered by three massive coal-powered boilers that are still on site, and 300,000 Model T and Model A cars were built there before the Great Depression. In World War II the US Army added five warehouses as a Quartermaster Depot, and in the Cold War the site moved into missile development; the Army called it CAMP, short for Charlotte Area Missile Plant.
The complex was sold to Eckerd Pharmaceuticals in 1967. ATCO Properties bought the site from Rite Aid in 2016 and opened it to the public in 2017 as Camp North End.
