Charlotte's rink since 1995, rebuilt from the floor up in 2022
Pineville Ice House has been Charlotte's home for hockey, figure skating and recreational skating since 1995. It is a single-sheet rink, a standard NHL surface of 85 by 200 feet, with seating and viewing room for 500 spectators.
The ice itself is newer than the building. In 2022 the rink installed a new concrete floor, new dasher boards and 72-inch tempered glass, so the surface, boards and glass a visitor sees today are all recent. Behind the scenes there are four general-use hockey locker rooms with their own bathrooms and showers, plus two custom locker rooms reserved for the resident junior teams.
Hockey runs from Learn to Skate Hockey and Learn to Play Hockey up through the Falcons House League and Falcons Travel Hockey. The Queen City Royals travel hockey organization splits its home between Pineville Ice House and Extreme Ice Center. Figure skating is anchored by Charlotte Synchro, with freestyle sessions and advanced skating classes filling out the program.
