A 45,000-square-foot building with locker rooms, laser tag and a mini-golf course outside.
The Cheyenne Ice and Events Center was built in 2000 for a group of private investors and is now a City of Cheyenne facility. Its 45,000-square-foot masonry and steel building has a laser-precision concrete slab poured for the ice sheet, locker rooms with showers, bleachers served by an ADA-compliant elevator, a laser tag room, a game room and, outside, a miniature golf course.
Over the years it has been called the Ikon Center and Taco John's Events Center. The venue seats 2,000 for special events and 600 in sporting-event layouts, and has been home to the Cheyenne Stampede of the Western States Hockey League and the Cheyenne Warriors of the American Professional Football League.
Today the Cheyenne Capitals youth hockey organization calls it home, and the ice also hosts public skating from October through March.
