The city's 2010 arena, home ice for the Pirates and the UMN Crookston Golden Eagles
No public skating is posted for the next 7 days. New sessions show here as soon as the rink posts them.
The Crookston Sports Center opened in 2010 on the northeast corner of town and is one of the leading ice hockey venues in northwest Minnesota. The City of Crookston calls the 87,000-square-foot building an example of what community pride and collaboration can do. It has three arenas, seating for more than 1,200 and 14 locker rooms.
It is home ice for the Crookston Pirates high school teams and the Crookston Blue Line Club, and the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles keep their own locker room in the building. The press box sits on the upper level of the Event Arena, and the upper concourse is decorated with historic memorabilia.
The building was designed to be as green as possible. Heat from the compressors that cool the ice is reclaimed and sent back through the ducts to warm the arena instead of being vented outside, and the city takes part in Minnesota's B3 Benchmarking Project on energy use in public buildings. The Gold Arena can also be laid with artificial turf.
