Two NHL-size sheets, one of them the Vern Davis Rink
Callingwood Twin Arena is a City-operated arena in Edmonton's Callingwood Park, on the same site as the Jamie Platz Family YMCA. Both of its sheets are NHL size, 200 feet by 85 feet, and the two halves of the building are run as Rink A and Rink B, each with its own 220 spectator seats and four dressing rooms. Safety netting protects the viewing area.
One of the two sheets is the Vern Davis Rink. Vern Davis co-founded Edmonton Minor Hockey Week and volunteered in Edmonton and Alberta hockey for more than 50 years. He founded the "Little Richard" League in northwest Edmonton, a program that later became Initiation hockey. The Edmonton Oilers named him Hockey Volunteer of the Year, and the City of Edmonton inducted him into its Sports Hall of Fame. He died in 2012.
