Edmonton's river-valley skating oval and scenic IceWay at Victoria Park
Currently out of season The City of Edmonton's outdoor skating page says all outdoor ice surfaces are closed for the season; its status feed shows each City-run outdoor rink as closed and no 2026/27 opening date is posted yet. The City's rink status feed lists this rink with no closure notice posted. Official schedule update
The Victoria Park IceWay and Skating Oval is one of the City of Edmonton's river-valley ice surfaces: a large oval for leisure skating with a scenic IceWay and a pavilion. The City published a time-lapse showing the whole ice-making process, from bare ground to finished ice, as the perfect kickoff to Edmonton's winter season.
The Edmonton Speed Skating Association has exclusive use of the oval at set times in partnership with the City, so check the notifications before going; the IceWay stays open for public skaters during those periods. A Winter Windbreak Comfort Node beside the IceWay offers south-facing seating, a fire pit and wooden panels that block the prevailing winds. No sticks or pucks are permitted on the IceWay or the oval.
