Two ice halls added to Gigantium in 2005-2008

Gigantium is a sports and culture centre in Aalborg, run by the municipality, and it consists of a main hall, a sports hall, two skating halls, a swimming pool and an athletics hall. The two skating halls, the Isarena and the Istræningshal, were built beside it between 2005 and 2008. Aalborg ice hockey has played in the Isarena since its opening in February 2007, and with 6,000 places it is Denmark's largest ice hockey arena. The new arena replaced the old Aalborg skating hall from 1967.

The Isarena is where Aalborg Pirates play and train, and for big handball matches it can be turned into a court with room for 5,600. The Istræningshal is used for training by other teams and for public skating. Aalborg Skøjteløberforening, founded on 14 December 1973, is based in the building and has around 130 members.
