A 9,500 m2 artificially frozen oval in Arendal idrettspark, opened on 5 November 2004.
Currently out of season Arendal kommune says the rink is open every year to and including week 9 and prints a weekly timetable (Saturday and Sunday 10:00-18:00, Monday to Friday shorter days), but its page gives no opening date or season for 2026-27: the history page only says it is open from November to March. Checked on 4 October 2026. Official schedule update
Arendal og omegn kunstisbane is an inter-municipal facility, part of Arendal idrettspark next to Sam Eyde upper secondary school. Its ice surface is about 9,500 square metres and it is open from November to March, used for speed skating, bandy, ice hockey and play on the ice. People had dreamed and planned for an artificially frozen rink for decades before it finally opened with a big celebration on 5 November 2004. It was opened by Terje Andersen, then president of the Norwegian Skating Association and a 1500 m bronze medallist at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics.
The rink has been the arena for many major meets: the all-round Norwegian championships in the 2006, 2015 and 2019 seasons, a youth international in 2007, the sprint championships in 2011, the junior championships in 2013, a national cup and many local races. In 2016 Øystein Grødum set a world record for the one-hour race on a lowland track. The oval was rehabilitated with a concrete base in 2024, thanks to lottery grants and support from Grimstad and Froland kommune.
